付加疑問 isn't it? の発音は語尾を下げます。語尾を上げると「私は きれいだと思うけど、どう思う？」というニュアンスになってしまいま す。
「You Are pretty.」と言うと、奥さんは「I'm not beautiful?」と怒り出します。やはり beautiful は美において最上位にランクする形容詞なのです。 ほかに、少しオーバーに言いたい時は great や lovely、neat なども 使われます。先日、東京・丸ビルのツリーを見ましたが、so gorgeous （ゴージャス）でした。 ただし、日本人におなじみの「ナイス！」はこういう場合あまり使われ ません。平易な表現過ぎて、たいして感動していないようなニュアンス を作ってしまうのかもしれません。

日本語で「一晩中ライトアップされている」などと言いますが、 light up は明かりをつ ける動作（スイッチを入れるなど）のことで、ついている状態を言う時 は light の過去分詞 lit を使います。
